Thumbs up IAT within MAF on '96 LS400?

Pulled the codes on the LS today and was coming up with about 6 different ones, know where the others are but I received one for the MAF and for the IAT.

Did a quick look at the intake tubing and didn't see a seperate IAT soooo I assume it's within the MAF, is this correct?

If this is correct, should I attempt to clean my MAF or just scout out for a used one?

Thanks!

I also believe the IAT is built into the MAF. However, on some cars it's separate. if it is, it's usually on the intake snorkel or the airbox.

I hope not but if so, that's how it is. My F150s temp sensor is located in the lower intake manifold, it's about an $18 part.

Cool

I can't speak for that sensor in particular, but generally they are nothing more than a 10 cent thermistor on the MAF body.

Troubleshoot all the codes together logically. I highly doubt your IAT sensor is actually bad. If it shows any resistance - the ECU will be happy with it. It doens't make more than a bearly noticeable change in the fuel & ignition tables.

That's the only code now, I had a few random misfire ones due to bad plugs/wires and an O2 sensor one that I have been rid of for a while.

What's the best was to take apart the MAF? From what it looked, it's a single piece.

Soldering to repair doesn't bother me at all if I can get away with that...
