Question Installing upper strut tower brace

I recently purchased a tower brace from Carson Toyota. I'm told the brace
is made for the Supra but will fit on my '93 LS400 also. However, when I
try to install the brace it will not go on because it hits a part on the
engine. I'm not sure what the part is but I have pics I could email.
I was told to send a private message to "LuLee"???
I've tried that but his name comes up invailed. I thought it
wierd that the parts place couldn't help me with this. Anyhow, can
anyone help with info on how to install this brace on my LS400.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
TThor4

I've been there done that.

The Supra STB does NOT fit on the 1990-1992 cars. To anyone who can get it to fit without using washers, having perfect alignment, or having any clearance issues prove it to me. It simply will not go on.

I keep hearing about people fitting it on the 1993 'with no problems' so my ONLY guess is that something in the strut mount points on the chassis were changed for this year, but that's a long shot since the 1990-1994 cars are identical.

You will need to put a few washers to raise the bar a little to clear the engine bay. His screename is
Loule by the way.

BTW Lee, did you ever get yours to fit?

Didn't he change his name to SQ-LS?

I've been told that you need to put washer to raise the bar plenty of times but what are "washers"? Sorry if this seems like a dumb question but I want to know because I might buy the sway bar too.

The best washer you can get is a custom machined one that will be 1 piece with 3 holes for bolts in them. That one will actually won't downgrade handling improvement from strut bar. Now it you do it the rice way, you can use regular round washers one on every bolt. This way you will have your strut bar to fit but it will make no change in handling. I think you can get the strutbar imported specifically to fit your Celsior from Japan. It is more expensive though.

P.S. Washers are the same thing as spacers. They will basicaly prevent the top of the supra strutbar hitting the top of your V8.

It's ok, I was just asking. I think I'll wait a little longer for the Daizen Strut Bar that is spcifically made for our 90-94 LS Model.

Thumbs down Toyota Supra Strut tower brace

Well, I have tried my best to make the Toyota Supra brace work on my '93 LS 400. IT DOES NOT WORK. I'm currently out $100 (labor for mechanic to install) plus $200 (for the part itself) plus 2 mos worth of anguish . I'm hoping the auto parts place that sold me the part stating it would work will help to make me whole again. Will keep you posted! From this point on, Only Lexus parts unless I personally know the Toyota part will work!

Are you sure you have the right bar? ANd did you use a spacer? Cause My Supra bar from toyota works great. Just had 2 custom spacers made. clears the engine by about half and inch.
