Keep or sell?
I’m still debating on keeping or selling....
no I did not inherit it, so no sentimental value, what I paid for it is my business haha.
the minor flaws include the driver seat base having a little deterioration, a tiny ding on passenger front door, very minor scuffs Here and there, passenger rear door lock actuator not working, minor scratches on the rear bumper
and now that I’ve driven it some short distances it’s throwing a P0430 code and no maintenance history to speak of, (I haven’t looked up the VIN on Lexus own website) and definitely original everything including the timing belt/serp belt. And it’s super clean underneath, never leaked at all!
I’ve seen what they’ve sold for over the past year on bringatrailer, and this one would definitely be in the more “middling/low” range of the sales prices ($8k-$12k)

The code P0430 could be a number of things, ya need to hunt it down.
P0430 LEXUS Possible Causes
- Faulty Three-way Catalyst Converter Bank 2
- Exhaust Tube
- Intake Air Leaks
- Faulty Oxygen (O2) Sensor
- Faulty Fuel injector(s)
- Leaking Fuel Injector (s)
- Faulty Spark plugs
- Improper Ignition Timing
- Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM)
- Dirty Air Filter
- Yea, not a good attitude to start with the people that could help.
How much the OP paid for it may be relevant if you're giving him financial advice on how to manage his life.
But he's asking about the car.
Whether he paid $40k, received it as a gift, or stole it, now he has it. The purchase price is not relevant to the questions he's asking.

if he aint saying that means he probably got it stupid cheap and doesn't want any possible buyers to see this thread if he decides to sell lol. i paid $1500 for my white/tan 99 with navi in pristine condition. had the same argument with myself about it cause it was so insanely nice and i could probably triple my $ if i sold. i ended up keeping mine and dont regret it at all.
OP.
if you are not super into these cars and you paid next to nothing for it, flip the hell out of it. HOWEVER, you have an insanely nice car, and the odds of you ever finding another one like that ever again are basically zero. my biggest concern about it if you were to keep it would be the classic case of an old car with not enough miles on it. its probably never been on the highway or left the area, so the second you try to throw it into everyday use all kinds of hairy stuff will probably start to show up. either way, awesome ride but like everyone else says, ditch the vogue tires. the LS400 just isn't the kind of car for them lol.

Agree With Losiracer2. Someone wants this low mileage car and is willing to pay for it.
Freshen it up and sell it and buy a 120k 1998-2000 with starter and strutrods done at least.
that is fine to daily drive. I have a 1995 for winter and a 1998 . The 1998 is snappier and smoother with the five speed.
