Default '95 Lexus LS400 - near mint - value?

Hi all. It has been a long time since I last posted here or owned a LS400. I sold my '91 back in 2010 and haven't been around here since. 😞 I have owned several cars since and have ran across a '95 LS400 that is stunning. It has 142k miles, but it looks like it has 4,200 miles - literally. Engine as clean as a pin. All service up to date, new timing belt, etc. They are asking $5,000 which is $2,000 above KBB private party in excellent condition. I know you really cannot go by KBB on an older car, but wondering what the true value is on a car like this? I am sure there is not another '95 LS this close to me within 200 miles. I really need to sell a car to make room for this one, but I think would make a perfect work car as opposed to my '04 Toyota Sequoia Limited which I would only use for trips. I have owned both a '90 and '91 LS over the years and loved them both. How much is too much $ for this car? Any other suggestions/advice appreciated.

I would be afraid to drive that thing, wow.

At this point the value of that car is whatever someone is willing to pay. I don’t think $5k is out of the question at all. Some may agree some may not.

This looks nicely cared for. Still an old car regardless how nice it is and this is a depreciating machine. I feel that $3,600 is acceptable for the shape it is in as they are less common. If you are set on the 95-97 body then this is an opportunity.

As Peacebay mentions whatever someone is willing to pay.

Thanks for the replies. That is about what I was thinking. KBB PPV in excellent is only $3,000. I thought about offering $3,500 - they may counter. I mean the worst they can say is no - I guess? lol.

I hope you get it. I think you gave the right offer.

Man that looks sweet! Any maintenance history? Honestly, it's worth whatever they want and/or whatever you are willing to pay.

Thanks. Complete service records since new. Timing belt and water pump recently done due to age. $5,000 is the price, firm. A little steep for me, especially for a car I do not need. I have an '04 Sequoia Limited that is my current daily driver that is a super nice and reliable vehicle, but I wanted to maybe buy this as a daily cruiser, something cushy to drive to work as I was driving a '91 Cadillac that ended up with a bad fuel line that was going to cost more than the car was worth to replace. I have a few other cars, I could sell the Caddy, which I want to do and maybe sell my Mercedes S-Class which I hate to do, but it isnt as nearly as nice as this LS. That would cover some of that extra cost. I dont know, we will see I guess. Maybe it will sell soon and I will not have to worry about it. lol. If they still have it next weekend, I may look at it, then may not be able to pass it up. Big problem is I do not have indoor storage for it which it deserves. I have a 2-car carport, but it has my classic Caprice wagon and '91 Town Car with 30k original miles under it. Decisions decisions. lol.

Ain't it grand! Who was it that said, "too much is never enough"? I have to control myself otherwise people would think I was a used car dealer. I could hold 7 cars on the blacktop drive and 1 in the garage, but it's a pain moving them around. Also, I don't like starting one without taking it for a good run. Bet your Towncar is sweet, I had a 95 and a 03—talk about storage space!

I bought my 99' LS400 147k for $3500 with maintenance records dating back to 2005, same owner for the past 16yrs, always garage kept. Starter and Strut rods were done at 127k by the dealer and it has 2k mile old Bridgestone Ecopias. But the timing belt was done in June 2005, 60k ago so that sucks. I still paid his $3500 ask because I wanted the 98+ model, plus I've got 4 keys, the window sticker NAV, HIDs and Heated Seats and its super clean for the part of the country I'm in, no rust at all.

He actually reached out on ClubLexus asking what he should sell his LS for, that's how I found out and jumped at the opportunity since it was only a 150 mile drive from me and I wanted to move on from my 300k 97' LS.

Thanks. Well I cannot stop looking at the photos of the car. I really want it. lol. I really had a 2005-2008 Toyota Avalon Limited on my mind to purchase to use as a work car and really wasn't even looking for a LS and this just showed up. I didn't think I would find one that old, that nice locally. I know I loved both of my former LS models, though they were 1990 and 1991 models and even back in the 2000s when I owned them, they had over 200k miles. Great cars, but I had A/C, radio and cluster needle illumination issues with one and A/C and power steering issues with another. I know this '95 is getting age on it too and wondering how long until those little issues start cropping up on it. I am sure some of the common issues on the '90-'94 models carried over to the '95s-'97s? Would I be better off getting a newer Avalon Limited with about the same miles? I really like a cushy ride and I think the LS will deliver better in that area.

Yeah, I have way too many cars. lol. I have an '04 Sequoia Limited 4x4, 1991 Town Car, 1991 Sedan DeVille, 1988 S-Class, 1973 Grand Ville and a 1972 Caprice wagon. lol. I am going to clean up the Caddy and sell it, but cannot get much for it, but at least would free up some driveway space. lol. Yeah, the Town Car is a fun to drive, only 34k miles, but it hasnt been driven much over the years and needing some TLC. Here are some pics from early April.

Personally 5k I think is easily worth it for how clean that is! I bought my 98 with 213k miles for 3750 from a dealership in Colorado. 2 owners before me and last owner had her for 17 years. All records through Lexus and she was in great shape but not as clean as the one you're looking at. I see ones on cl in much worse shape for that price or more.

it's worth how much you are willing to pay. if it's $5k then great!
I personally would not pay that much even for a cream puff 95-97 model, I'd reconsider if it was a 99-00 model year.
for someone who owned a 97 and knows the ins-outs of the model, I'd pay $4k at most.
