ECU and key programming 00 model
my car is ls400 2000 model am going to swap my car’ s ECU
i have two questions:
can i use a japanese spec ECU on my US spec car? do i need to do any programming for the ecu?
How to identify the keys to the new ecu in order to crank the engine?
my car’ s ecu number is 89661-50530
while the used one which i have is numbered 89661-50531 are they differant or the same

The emissions control system and some others are different. Especially the evaporative emissions control method is not compatible and this is one of points you need to modify the ECU circuits or to add external circuits. Another major point is that you need to reprogram the immobilizer chip. This needs to use a special equipment which can read the data of your key and rewrite the EEPROM. This can be done by some locksmith, some dealers or someone who is capable doing this. There is another way to perform this but I dare not to write about it. These 2 are not simple and easy and can't be done without skills.
They are different but the differences are mostly disregarded and the 89661-50531 can be used for your car after rewriting the immobilizer chip. It will be quicker to use a Celsior's ECU.
