Question Rear Spring Removal Questions

I have a set of Eibachs lowing springs I have been putting off installing due to my question of accessing the rear springs. I have the Mitchell CD repair manual but it is not a full explanation. From what I can gather it appears that some interior pieces must be removed. I am not to thrilled about the possibility of creating squeaks and rattles if a part becomes slightly misaligned or a bracket becomes loose.

If anyone has a good set of instructions or direct experience I would appreciate it.

Thanks

I would also like to know, I do know that you need to remove the backseat (The back rest part as well) because there are bolts that only can be accessed by doing so.

I can tell you how to remove the back seat, because you do need to do that to access the rear suspension.

1) on the reat seat bottom pull out on those black tabs and pull up on the seat at the same time. It's in there tight so it takes some elbow grease. There are two tabs, remove both and take out the bottom.
2) There are 4 bolts that secure the rear seat back, all are at the bottom. I believe you also have to remove the seat belts. Once bolts are removed push up and set the back portion aside.
3) Remove sub cover.
4) Pull out rear deck.

Now you can access the rear suspension. Here's how it should look, minus the sound deadening though.

Earl-

How much sound attenuation do you think you got by installing the deadening material back there? Did you place it in other locations? I've been thinking of doing it to ours.

Thanks Earl

From the sound of the Mitchell manual I thought more was needing to be removed. I have had the interiors out of other manufacturers cars and done springs as well but wanted to know what was involved here before starting the project. Hmmm... maybe this weekend!

If ya do, could ya take pictures of it??!! Because from what I hear you have to disassemble the entire rear axle and it sounded pretty complicated? Have I heard wrong?

Thanks,

-Jason

RA40,

I have no rattles, just good clean bass . Yes, I did apply sound deadening to many other areas. Check out my gallery to see the other areas.

jbrady,

Glad to help ya out. I am really interested in learning how to do this install. I would also love to see pictures if you could take and post them for all of us. If not could you post the instructions from the manual? Thanks.
