Need suggestions for missing wheel lock (1999)
I bought some 17" LS430 chrome wheels for my newly acquired 1999 LS400. Got them all polished up and went to install, only to find the OEM wheel lock is missing. The car has 100k miles, dealer serviced...didn't even think to check for the wheel lock, figured it was in back with the spare.
I know discount tire or the dealer can probably help me out, but does anyone have any quick fix suggestions? This is the hollow lug type wheel lock, not the typical style we usually see.

Missing wheel lock
I think you mean the wheel lock adapter, used to remove the wheel locks.
lf so, suggest: 1. Contact Mcgard (in NY state) for their input/ideas - they manufacture wheel locks that may have been used on your car.
2. Do a Web search of wheel lock removal tools/methods - there are some crazy gizmos, etc. , for situations like yours.
Hope this helps. Good luck.

when i got my car, and wanted to take the wheels off, found the same, a lock nut and no adapter. went to a tire shop. had them get them off and put regular nuts on. a week later, i discovered the existence of the coin tray to the left of my steering wheel, which was invisible until i read about it, punched the lid, it opened, and found the wheel lock adapter at the bottom of the coin tray, along with left-behind coinage. DOH!

I left my 'Key" inserted in a wheel one day and drove off . Yep. This is what I did to get the locking lug nuts off:
Find a 1/2" drive socket that is slightly smaller than the lug nut. Beat it over the locking lug nut with a sledge hammer. Use 1/2" breaker bar to remove. The hard part is getting the nut back out of the socket.
Or take it to a tire shop . They have a tool that is similar.

The OEM lugnuts on the 2001 were longer.
I purchased a new set of long locking lugnuts with key from dealer for $35.
