Funky electrical issues with seat, locks, and steering wheel.
Hi guys! I’m new here and just got myself a 2000 Ls400 Platinum. Saw it collecting dust in a local tow yard and offered the owner $800 for it! It runs great actually and just got it detailed. ANYWAYS!
********* When I try to use the buttons on the seat to move it forward and backward... it will move for a bit and then slow down and die. Then becomes unresponsive until I let it sit for a while. The door locks budge and almost lock when I hit the lock button but seem to lose power as I keep trying and becoming nothing more than a faint “tick” sound as those too seem to lose power as I keep attempting to push the button.
Also, the steering wheel is completely unresponsive to telescoping or any other movement via the joystick. I’ve seen videos of replacing the gear inside, but it doesn’t even make a sound... this is my biggest problem seeing that I’m 6’6 and the wheel is stuck all the way down.
Could this be fuses? Alternator? Battery? Any and all help would be appreciated!
Just replaced the battery also.

It could have been a flood car too and have lots of corroded connections, if its like a gen 1 the terminal block for the fusible link could be a mess of corrosion, I'd look for that sort of thing and yeah check the voltage out put of the alternator. Battery cables and grounds check, cables can corrode where the ends are swaged on so check that good.

I had a similar issue but my seat memory central locking and steering adjustment went dead. The only thing that all 3 systems share is the body control module.
Mine just needed a reset by disconnecting the battery for a few mins but you say you've already done that. Maybe look at the module as it could have issues. Not much help but could point you in the right direction.
