Hello Guys. I'm after knowing if you can use a OBD2 reader to read a OBD1 port.
My 89 Celsior is OBD1 (Lexus changed in 95 to OBD2).
I realise OBD1 has far less to offer in the way of data, but as there are OBD1 to OBD2 cables available I was wondering if that meant that the likes of the ELM327 which is a OBD2 reader could also read OBD1 ports with the appropriate cable.
If I could find a OBD1 reader I would
Yeah, looks like there was not really a ratified standard for OBD1, or it wasn't adhered to like it was for OBD2.
At least you can get the codes via the jumper. Except mine is not giving me any codes, even if I force one (unplug the air flow meter while the engine is running).
New caps have arrived for the ECU, will be installing them this weekend. Hopefully I can get get fault codes and I'll see what else starts working again.
Kinda hoping for a little more bottom end grunt (more Torque).
