Default Off Road Build Advice

Hey LS400 Forum,
I hope you and your LSs are all doing well and I have decided to take a somewhat radical approach to my LS400 build.

I know many will hate me for it but I've decided to turn my 1992 LS400 into an off road rig of sorts.

I have gone through most of the mechanical items now and I would like to start on the fun stuff now- a lift with off road tires (29/30in goal).

There are a few (I've only seen 4 different ones online with no build specs) lifted LSs out there but there is not a lot of info on rim size, lift specs such as did they use a coil spring spacer or longer length coil springs.

Do any of you know of coil springs that would be a direct fit for a 92 LS?
My goal is a 3 maybe 4 inch lift to fit 29/30 inch ties.

I would be open to the idea of going for a slightly smaller tire size (maybe high 20s) but I would like to have some decently chunky off road tires on there.

Without having to cut the fenders, is there a suggested tire size if I do a 3 or 4 inch lift (and can you suggest coils)

Thank you all and take care,
David

I have occasionally seen an off road oriented 89-94 on instagram, I don't recall the owner's handle off the top of my head, but I'll see if I can find it. It seems possible they might be willing to give some basic information.

edit: the instagram user's handle is @kmarowitz. He's posted pictures with other similarly lifted LS400s in the past.

For true off road its the only thing that makes sense, if you don't want to get stuck every place you decide to drive it off road.

there was a member here that did this to his LS awhile back, i cannot seem to find the thread. pretty radical LS!

as for the actual lift, you will definitely need to alter the body to get wide tires to fit. lifting a vehicle is much harder than just elongating the struts. you will run into positive camber issues!
