Replace Climate Control With Something Else?
Hi guys.
I am thinking about removing the giant climate control and air filtration system in my 1990 Celsior. This thing is monstrous, and I would like to make more room in my car for FI. ANyo thirdparty AC products recommended? So far Im likely going with a modded Vintage Air kit

Are you talking about removing the heater core/blower assy.? It's larger than aftermarket units because it was engineered to be much more durable and work under much harsher conditions than any aftermarket units. I don't know why you need under-dash space for FI or if you're referring to the AC condensor/drier how much space you expect to free up, but no, aftermarket (vintage air/similar) isn't going to perform to a near-stock level in the long term.
Mine currently doesnt perform at all. The build will consist of FI with intercooler and airbags in the trunk, so I will be removing the massive air filtration system. Along with everything under the hood. I may end up not using any form of aircon at all as this will not be a daily driven vehicle once I am finally done. . I dont need it to perform like the 28 year old unit. I have a vintage air system in an old wagon that is more than adequate for my needs and takes up a fraction of the space of the system in my celsior. Its all about cutting weight and gaining space. The unit in the trunk is the main space I want to free up.
I understand the reason for the oem system being so large. But it is now nearly 30 years and it is not something I want to rely on. This is the same reason Im replacing the ECU. Old tech is old tech, and things tend to go south quite quickly after 20 years
