Default Starter Replacement

Hey everyone, first time poster. I have a few questions I was hoping the knowledgeable folks on this board could help me with

I recently bought a 1995 Lexus LS400, which I have been enjoying so far. It has about 300k KM on it (about 180k Miles). Private purchase, I had a trusted mechanic check it over first and he said it was in good condition, though there's possibly a issue with the MAF.
However, before I got far enough to start troubleshooting it, today it wouldn't start!

Turn of the key gave me a single click and then nothing. Checked the battery with a multimeter, and it showed 12.8, I eventually did get it to start and it dropped to 11.3 when I turned the key and up to 14.6 or so once the car was running.

Full disclosure, I'm a beginner when it comes to car repair and troubleshooting. I figure that the battery must be alright, and the alternator probably isn't an issue with those numbers, but I can't do a load test.

First question, seems like the starter is on the way out, is that what it sounds like to you guys?

So I've been researching starter replacement for this model and make, and oh boy it's apparently quite a journey. I'm thinking of tackling this myself, and so my second question is, on a car of this age and mileage is there anything else you would be replacing while you were elbow deep in there considering what you have to do to get at the starter?

Lastly, any thoughts or motes of wisdom that might help me on this journey.

Thanks again!
