Gremlin Inside HVAC Unit?
I have a 1998 model, which I bought a couple of months ago. One of the first things I noticed, when slowing to a stop, was the sound of "something" in the ducting (maybe) sliding uphill, then down again. It's not a clattering sound, more like a mild swishing. I don't think its the air flaps moving, as I don't normally have the climate system in auto mode.
Is there anything that's known to break off and roll around?
The car did have one of those hideous aftermarket Nokia phoneholders (not too well put in, I hasten to add), and I've removed most of the superfluous cabling/boxes etc. associated with that. But this weird sound remains. (I just hope he didn't drop a fastener - or whatever - into the main air vents).
Any thoughts?

There was just another thread about the same thing.

He never found his "marble" but if you need to take out the console and stuff that thread might help you.

Thanks for reply. Certainly not a marble, sounds more like a small bag of sand. What I have noticed (and not yet investigated) is that one end of the front demister outlet trim piece is sticking up slightly - so whether a clip has fallen in I don't know. But the weird thing is, when slowing to a stop, there's more of a delay before the "return swish" than I would expect.
