Default ECU question.

Does anyone know if when I swap my ECU will I need to get it flashed/reprogrammed? It's a 1990 LS400. Thank you in advance for the help.

No reflash on gen1 stuff, it is programmed from the factory. All that is needed is it has to have or not have trac. Depending on if your car has it or not. 90 to 92 is suppost to interchange.

I think you'll need to initialize it first after installing it. Think Youtube has how to.

Traction control.

I'm pretty sure the ECU (90-92 or 93-94) is plug and play. No need to do anything else. Maybe different on 95+.

That video looks like an OBD2 diagnostic port. A 90 to 94 will not have that. 90 to 92 is for sure plug and play.

yeah my OBD petty looks different. I just don't want to plug it in and it not work them try to put mine back in and IT not work. This is my wife's car that she drives or baby in. So when I plug it in should I let it be on acc for like thirty minutes to initialize? Happy Easter by the way everybody! May it be filled with happiness, joy and blessings!

I'm not an expert but I think I know some about the behind scene.
You don't need to get the ECU flashed/reprogrammed at all for your 90 LS400. The ECU doesn't need to learn anything special to start the engine. The self power on initialization is done within a few seconds after the power up and you can start the engine quickly. But the ECU needs some more time to learn to control the engine, the AT and some others. The idle speed and the AT shift timings are typical items of those. You need at least 30 minutes or more of drivings to complete the learnings.

Affirmative.
Start the engine and just drive both in your city and the suburb to complete the initial learnings.
