Default Does your A/C drop water on the ground?

Does your a/c drop water on the ground? I was under the assumption all A/c systems drop a little water when you're parked with the A/c on. I just recharged my system and noticed it's dropping water where it parks. Now I thought this was normal of all cars, but I looked around at where other cars had parked and there wasn't any water. There weren't excessive amounts of it, but still there was a noticable amount.

Now I'm thinking my system might be leaking, but I have never filled it before and the a/c has always worked well. Also, it always did this water dropping (not like a hissing leak, like a water dropping) thing even before I did the recharge.

One more thing, I don't know if it's water or if it's something else, it looks clear like water, but I suppose it could be a/c oil or coolant.

The water seems to be normal. Both of my cars drop water when the AC is on and the car is ideling.

If water is dropping I would assume that the A/C is working very good and is taking lots of humidity out of the air. So do you notice this when it is above average humidity outside? If it's working fine, meaning cooling your car then I wouldn't worry about it. I wish my A/C was working at all now that it's warming up here! I'm bringing it in soon though so it's all good.

Earl!

Default Mine too, I think it is normal

I seem to drop more water than other cars, I run my A/C most of the time on pretty cold. The system was rebuilt last summer.

Thanks for all the answers, I'll assume all is well as long as things are cold, hehe.

The moisture is from your AC condensor.

It is normal.

Now if you don't have water dripping then you got a problem the AC condensor is not doing its job well.

Glad I found somebody else who had this problem. I have been going round and round with the dealer and finally gave up. But when my AC is on it comes a flood. I have never seen so much water from any other car. It will even continue to drip hours after the car is off. When I bought the car I had the timing belt replaced right before it got hot and when I first noticed it I swore the dealership didn't put something back together correctly.

Like you said long as it blows cold air I wouldn't sweat it

Yeah I know all systems drop a little water, but mine seems to drop A LOT of water.

Anyways, since my last oil recharge my A/C performance has fallen, I think it may be overcharged now or have too much oil in it, I'm going to get a professional recharge now.

Yep, those LS's drop tons of water and it's all good. More water equates to AC working good and/or high relative humidity, plus your drainage pipe is not clogged.
