Hello new member here, I have a 96 LS400 that has a knock sensor 1 circuit bank 1 code. Had to do a repair on radiator nipple to coolant tank and all is good on repair and added coolant car is ok, but no have that CEL code I cleared it and it came back in right away. Can this be just change knock sensor? Major job? Thanks in advance
When the computer usually picks this up it's on point. I would just replace the knock sensor. Use denso brand to make sure you won't have to do it twice.
UPDATE I checked for any intake leaks none, cleaned MAF and throttle body out, did seafoam directly into intake and gas tank with fresh premium gas. Drove for a while after clearing code but code came right back. So now before just throwing parts at it is there a way to check knock sensor operation while still on car? or is there a testing method to confirm a bad knock sensor don't want to do both sensors, starter and labor for same outcome. Thanks
Update, I was able to get to knock sensors without tear down and I switched knock sensor wires to each other this is what I have come up with, so on the first CEL I had P0325 after cleared code and swapped knock sensor wires then I have a P0330 code cleared code swap back and P0325 back. So I am assuming that with swapping wires getting the code corresponding with the knock sensor in bank one is setting off code so I have a bad sensor or something triggering it. So now I will go ahead and put a new knock sensor on to try that out
That thread "identify banks?" was specific to identify the banks and that was it I didn't want to get a bunch of other stuff chimed in that's all, so is that correct what I assumed for on bank Identification drivers side is bank one?, and other threads were only created to ask what was asked specifically and for instance; not be offered a part for sale, repeats of suggestions already posted, etc so Im sorry for that and I also thought as of the weekend the threads were merged
A little confused everyone points that drivers side or left side is sitting behind steering wheel is bank 1 and now I read this according to TSRM bank 1 is right side. How does the TSRM assume whats left and right in front of car looking under hood? or from drivers seat? Thanks
