Default Need a fastner source

Doing the radio swap I noticed that the ash try on our '92 came out quite easy. It only has one of those metal clips on it left from the previous owner taking it out. If anyone knows of a place to get fastners like that please let me know. I saw a whole assembly on ebay for $25. I'd hate to pay that much just to rob the clips off of it.

Thanks.

There's a couple LS400s in two of the local junkyards here. Send me a pic of what you want and I'll see what I can find.

Thanks, I'll have to pull the tray out again. If you are out that way and pull the ashtray out of the dash you'll see the little metal clips on the ashtray assembly itself. They slide into the mounting holes in the dash. They'll push in and expand to hold the tray snug. There are four total. Really the only metal on the thing.

It turned out that the one compatible LS400 in our junk yard also only had one of these fasteners. But when I popped the console cover off there just happened to be two more of the exact same fastener holding that on. So I have three. If these are the correct items you're looking for PM me your address and I'll get them on their way to you.

I looked for these before I took the trek out to the junkyard and they don't appear to have these fasteners. It is possible that I've missed them but I looked everywhere I could.

I think that above post says your order goes to China, so unless you have done it and it worked, I bet they just take your money and you never get a thing.

I've used aliexpress many times, it's a China version of Ebay, never had an issue.

I will say this. I only use a pre-paid MasterCard on the site, no way for them to overcharge or steal my Credit Card info that way.. But I haven't ever had an issue.

I've never had a good experience buying things like that from overseas companies.
