Convert Fahrenheit to Celsius - temp display
hi yamae, any idea how to convert from Fahrenheit to Celsius, in a 97 LS temp. reading ?
i have tried all over the net and many say its not doable... however, when i dismantled the unit console, i understood that the display can support the F character as well as C ... so was hoping to find a way to change the reading.. maybe by using some jumper or sensor swap.
even my mileage reading is Miles n i badly want KM : (

yea, i did... read most of the manuals... air conditioning and audio manual, owners manual, and some other files too, but none of it contained any such info.
i posted this request here since there is lot of useful discussion here about ecu and electricals, so in case this outside temperature reading can be changed from Fahrenheit to Celsius or vice-versa, then maybe,, just maybe by tampering with parts of the ecu or swapping ecu chips/sensors, jumpers, changing parts on the console unit, or any other ideas, this problem could be solved. I looked around every corner under the dash hoping to find a toggle switch / button somewhere and found nothing.
i dont know how far i have to go get this temperature reading changed, but i feel stupid to own a great piece of smooth car for 3-4yrs and not knowing the solution how to simply change a reading from an F to a C...
