In my experience, they're generally all the same when it comes to design. The $20 and up blades are usually a "solid" blade. Bosch, trico, anco, rain X.. It's all good. And definitely definitely stay away from those cheapos with the rubber sleeve. That rubber sleeve melts in ~70° heat or just extended direct sunlight.

There have been various discussions forum wide but it has been a spell here since we had a discussion. I use the OEM inserts. Ours is kept garaged and so long as I keep the inserts clean, they last a good spell, 2-4 years typically. Dad's car that is on the driveway need to be changed each year to year and a half.

I also like the OEM replacements over the other assemblies from the other companies. They have even pressure across the blade where replacements like Trico didn't conform to the window curvature. That applies to some of the others tested over the years. Have used Trico, Rain-X, one of the midline Bosch, Goodyear on other cars we've had. I prefer Toyota blade inserts over the whole blade replacements.

i suppose it depends on the use. we in cali never see snow (most of us) so getting OEM wiper replacements suffices for us. for others, it may not be ample enough to push collected snow. it also helps to use rain-x or other slick additives to help with visibility, defogging, etc.

i agree with RA40, OEM replacements are best but when the car comes with aftermarket blades already, the OEM refills did not fit as well and i was forced to get new blade assemblies.

Doing some quick research on wiper blades myself, it seems that some of the premium styles have more of a curve to their design. Say the Rain-X blades. (http://www.autozone.com/wiper-blades...5235_183233_0/)

I'm wondering if they pose any clearance issues when they go under the hood? Anything else that would make me pick a particular brand? Is replacing the blade a pop the old one off and pop the new one on simple job?

Thanks for reading.

PS I have a 95 if year matters on this.

Thanks. Yes I do use the RainX treatment. Unfortunately it won't repair cracked rubber, hence ,my wiper blade need.

Default Bought a pair of Trico Onyx blades

Thanks for the responces guys.

I ended up going with these below, a non-winter specific blade.

Been pleased with them.

From their website...

"TRICO Onyx™ Wiper Blades
High-speed performance beam blades

TRICO Onyx™ is a robustly engineered beam blade with an exclusive swept-wing spoiler that slices through wind speeds in excess of 135 MPH (220 KPH) caused by cross winds, buffeting truck winds and general traffic turbulence.

Features and benefits:

VorTec® aerofoil converts wind force for maximum windshield contact
HighGlide™ treated rubber element for a smoother, quieter wipe
Robust superstructure for durable all-weather performance
SWIFT® Easy Connection Technology"
