Default Brakes

93 LS
Midas Brakes for $109 includes turning rotors

or

Lexus OEM Brakes for $269 includes turning rotors.

OEM brakes really worth almost 3x as much? Midas gives a lifetime warranty. Will replace them free when they wear out and I only pay labor?

Any opinions on one or the other?

lifetime warranty what? Rotors. How much is labor for replacing it? Get it in writing. That is a good deal.

The warranty is only on the brakes not rotors. they will pay for new brakes when the old ones wear out.

all i have to pay for is labor like $60.

Just don't know if OEM brakes are worth 3x? My brother told me Midas brakes will squeak and I should go with OEM brakes but gezz big $$ diff.

I would like to get a few opinions from here... does everybody else use OEM brakes or have they had success using after-market brakes?

Decided to buy the pads at lexus and have midas turn the rotors and install the OEM pads. Weird thing is they are still charging me the $109 even if I supply the pads??? Still saving $100, so I guess I can't complain.

Brake pads are only like $15 for the set, that's why Midas won't discount. They probably pay less than $10 for bulk purchases.

LOL - Midas just called and said I need all 4 new rotors, The back have been cut below limit and if he cuts the front they will be below limit. So funny, because when I was getting new tires last week the guy at the tire store (which also does brakes) told me the total opposite. He said the rotors had plenty of meat on them but the pads only had 25% left. Midas said the rotors are gone but the pads are almost brand new. This cat is really trying to sell me something.

Were can I get some OEM rotors for a good price?

thks

If you actually do need new rotors (sounds doubtful from your post), you could always pull them off a car at a bone yard, then have them cut. Might be a cheap solution.

Used rotors are not worth of resurfacing it. Used rotors bring more problems that good. Contact Keyes Lexus and look for Ronnie. Tell him Dr. David from this forum refer you. You will get the lowest price. PM me is you need further help. Keyes lexus is located in Van Nuys California. Ask him if he can hook you up with free shipping.

Keep in mind that with the ultra long lasting Midas brake pads you WILL go through rotors more often.....if the pads aren't wearing out guess what will.....

LS400 brake pads are very easy to change, both front and back. It cost me around $110 for front/rear pads from Carson Toyota, it might have been a bit less. Throw in $10 for a few bottles of good brake fluid, and you'll be done in a few hours....
