Better rear lift point than diff?
Hey Guys,
Going to jack the car up for the first time to add hub rings. I read the front crossmember is best. Also read that there's a better place for rears than the differential. If so, please let me where and pics would be great. I have a crossmember attachment for floor jack, jack stands with pads for the pinch welds. Thanks for any help..

a seam adaptor for a jack in the standard jack point is the best place... but without that seam adaptor and you'll just crush the seams.
i'm too low and don't have a low profile jack long enough to reach the diff.
i personally don't like jacking on a IRS diff as the bushings are typically not designed to support the weight of the car as a lift point. on a solid axle car, go nuts but it's a bad idea on an IRS car.

Thanks, Shmee...I saw a magnetic one that sticks to the pinch weld and jack saddle raises up on it. I will order it and take back the crossmember attachment. Do you think I should do that method every time I'm just removing wheel? I was told that raising front/rear is better than a corner, but I'm new to this stuff and don't how much better. I'd like to be able to do this on my S6 aswell, so I can go back to stock and vice versa.

i simply jack up from the diff myself since there isn't too much weight out back to over stretch the diff bushings. i like to use the seam/jack points on the sides for my jack stands as i like to lift the hole front or rear (or both) at the same time to relieve tension off the sway bar, etc.
i think there is a jack point on the bottom of the spare tire well, tow hook maybe, but i wouldn't use it since it may buckle upwards!
