I own a 1990 ls400
last weekend the alternator went bad on it due to the leaking power steering pump.
I have since replaced power steering pump, new alternator and recharged my battery.
vehicle starts, idles, and drives fine but have the following dash lights on
-oil light
-coolant
-battery
-exterior brake light warning light
( I know oil is good, coolant is good and had someone make sure my lights were good as well)

Is there a common point in a wiring harness that goes bad other then at the truck hinge ? I am still yet to double check that spot of the wiring harness.
or is there a re-learn procedure the car has to do after the battery has been disconnected?

your best bet is to read the stickeys at the front of the posts, 90,91 have been covered many times.

 

I have read through the stickys about the ecu problems and mine does not show symptoms of the ecu caps going bad. I cant find anything about warning lights though that's why I posted this hoping someone can lead me to the proper thread or direction to the common fix.

 

It seems like your New alternator is not operating correctly. Try disconnecting the battery for a couple of minutes and see if that solves the problem. If not go to auto zone and let them hook it up( they usually do this for free) and test your new battery and alternator. Also check the ground wire for your alternator. It could very well be the trunk hinge wiring harness or ECU but if it was not doing this before you installed the new parts that's where I would start. The wiring harness is easy to check though.
