changed starter, starts but ill not accelerate
Hello, just finished installing starter on ls400 1994. it starts and idles fine, but will not accelerate at all. At first re start there was a cel(did not have before repair) it was code 41 tps, so I happened to have one and replaced it. cel is gone, but car will not accelerate.. it ran perfect before starter failed. I do not notice any vacuum leaks or fuel leake and without a code I have no idea where to look...

Does that model have a throttle body motor? Does it sputter and die after you press the gas? If so, try flooring it in park or neutral and see what it does. BTW, did you clean the intake or throttle body while you had it broken down?

No, it ran perfect before, always has. This is something that came up since the repair. Yes, I cleaned the tb and intake while it was apart. It really has me confused, because I don't know if its a fuel or spark issue. It really sucks to have that much time invested in the starter repair, then it not run & not knowing what to fix... if there were codes. id at least know where to look.

I'm pretty sure it is fuel related. was kind of hard to get video correctly, but if you spray starting fluid into system it will rev with rotation of tb as far As tps goes, it is as I can get it with it not running correctly I went through that years ago. that's how I ended up with one. it was my ecu back then kept giving the tps code, even with new one.

May be spark related. My del sol has done the same thing when the plugs got old. Now that I think about it, I had an 88 Pontiac LeMans back in college that did something similar. The LeMans would idle fine but gave me hell trying to start it, and as soon as I pressed the gas it would sputter and die. I changed the plugs, d-cap, and rotor and everything was fine.
