Default My 2000 LS audio upgrades

I figure I would start a build thread.

I've been collecting parts for a few months now, and got bored today.

So I ripped my door pannel off and replaced the speakers.

Im still in the process of finishing the doors.

Im using the factory enclosures and I will be running Hertz HSK 165 components.

mid bass is a 6.5" speaker

Enclosure opened up.

modifying the factory port, To make room for the larger driver.

the cutting begins.

wired up, I think I may increase the wire size, undecided right now.

all set.

it got dark out so Ill test fit the tweeters tomorrow.

yes.

It will be soon replaced with this.

For now I will probably just run one side of that amp, I will be running just the front stage off the amp and I am thinking about running the factory rear door speakers off the deck, switched, so I can shut them down when I want to turn it up.

but for everyday driving around listening to tunes, I think the deck will be enough for just a rear fill.

And for the deck, I will be putting in a Pioneer AVIC-150bh

For now, I will run the front stage with a passive crossover, Maybe in a few more months Ill get a Audison Bit so I can tune everything and run all 4 channels to the front Active.

Why did you go with those hertz speakers and that Zapco amp? I'm always curious about people's choices when it comes to stereo gear...

The amp was a impulse buy. I remember seeing them in magazines and SQ competition's, so one night I was getting lost on ebay and found that amp with 30 minutes left on the clock. I placed a bit ended up winning.

As for the Hertz speakers. They seam hard to beat for the price. A lot of people seam to like them.
Just buy the speakers at a dealer. There are a lot of fakes out there.

For now I think the hsk165's will be fine for me. Later on down the road I will probably make custom door panels and go with the hertz 3 ways.
