How much does shift solenoids cost for an Ls 400 and will bad solenoids make your transmission feel like it's gone up or slipping really bad?

The shift solenoid are not that expensive. The lock up solenoid is the one that cost. $300. Before you start messing with the solenoids. Have you checked the fluid, trans filter? We Need more information about what you are experiencing and if you have any codes. How many miles on the transmission?

yes your problem could be something unrelated to the solenoids, and something simple like the car needs new ATF fluid. btw the ATF needs to be genuine toyota type T-IV only.

over 90%+ of these kinds of issues on LS400 can be solved with one or more of the following:

● bring fluid level all the way up to very top of hot range marking on dipstick with transmission hot, running in Park, while parked on very level ground

● change fluid and filter - use genuine Toyota T-IV and a genuine Toyota filter

● replace your ECU capacitors

I have 189,000 miles on my car and it feels like the transmission is slipping really badly. I was driving one day and the car would not shift as I put my foot on the gas pedal. It came to a stop so I let it drifted to the side of the road and put it in park, the car was still running but it wouldn't move. After about 15 min I put the car back in drive and it started to move but only about 10-15 mph, i made it home slowly but I haven't driven it since.

yes, it's called Toyota T-IV (pronounced T4) and you can get it at the Toyota dealer as well, and it is probably cheaper there, than at the Lexus dealership

Alternatively, the same exact fluid is also sold under a few other names such as Mazda JWS3309 at the Mazda dealership and Mobil ATF 3309 at your local Mobil oil distributor. (by distributor, I don't mean Wal-Mart or Autozone) - also, Volvo fluid 116 1540-8 is also the same Mobil 3309 as is Ford Motorcraft p/n XT-8-QAW
