car magazines archieves...
Anyone knows how one could get access to the old car magazine archeives on the internet? (like car&driver, motortrend, road&track, etc.). I wanted to read some of their road tests and comparisons they made with the older model cars. For example, I think it was in 1994 (?) when they did a comparison of the BMW5, Mercedes E, Lexus LS400, maybe a jaguar or cadillac. And the Lexus smoked them all! If anyone knows, please let me know. Thanks.

Well, let's see here... the Jag and Audi pretty much don't stand a chance. So it must be between MB, Lex, and BMW. And I don't know weather or not you guys have noticed this, but it seems to me like Car&Driver Magazine is biased towards BMWs (just an observation)... I really would like the LS 400 to win, but my guess is the BMW finished 1st. Is that right?

Here is a thought.
Libraries often have car magazine subscriptions. Many archive their magazines. Call a library or two and you may find access to years of car magazines.

jbrady,
good idea, last time I checked the nearest library to my house, they had issues from 2000 and up, but different libraries might be different. How about microfisch? Would they have them?

Had they chosen a V8 benz, I don't think it would end up in 5th place... a V8 benz is better than that. As for the Jag, well, classic styling is one thing, quality/reliability is another (not to say that the Germans are way ahead of jaguar in quality/reliability either. They still can't get their electronics right!). Lexus LS400 has gotten it all; quality, value, styling, reliability, comfort, luxury and etc. I disagree with Car&Driver with their Cons. Who pays that much money to "feel the road?"
