Just bought a 98 LS400, Nakamichi speaker question
Just purchased a nice 98 LS400, antique sterling met. with the Nakamichi sound system.
One owner with 112k and all service records from Lexus of Greenwich CT.
Heres a pic from the dealer site, havent taken any myself yet:
On the way home after picking it up I noticed all the speakers work except the left rear door speaker. I would normally just assume its a dead speaker but I know these are a bit more complicated than the average stereo.
Can anyone chime in on if they think its just a bad speaker or if there is an issue with the amplifier or something else?
If it is a bad speaker, I'm sure finding a Nakamichi replacement is out of the question so does anyone have experience with what works for a good substitution?

great car, never knew this interior color came with that exterior color. as for the speaker issue, the amplifier is located under the pass side seat. like you i would suspect the speaker itself to be bad. finding a used nak speaker may be as easy as getting into the WWW or local dismantler. maybe another forum member can send their old one to you after upgrading.

i must admit that i've never heard of this auto sound system, but was there any distortion before it gave no sound. Perhaps the wires connected to the points are dodjy. If not a good reply is to update your speakers to handle the sound.Remember, speakers are the most important part of a sound system. Up the ohms dude. Good luck.

No... mine is the exact same color and interior... just a 99 model with a few more miles...
Great choice... I love the ride of the later model LS400's...
I'm sure you will too...
