Default LS400 Oil pump protrusion?

Hi guys, got a question for those knowledgable about the 1UZ and changing out the front crank seal.

So, I'm pretty much replacing all the gaskets and seals on this 1UZ im building and I've gotten to the front crank oil seal. When I finally got the old crank seal out, I noticed that there was a black small protrustion on the lower left bottom area (about 2 mm wide and 0.5-1mm thick, 7 o'clock position). I didn't thnk much of it and I attempted to install the new oil seal, but now it doesnt look like it will seal properly, not to mention, I cant get it to sit perfectly flush due to it. It will probably hit the timing pulley/sprocket once I put it back on there.

Can anyone tell me why this is doing this? the seal that I bought had no provisions for the protrusion. Do I need a new oil pump?

Thanks in advance!

Sorry, I dont have a pic of the protrusion because I didn't think about taking a pic of it before I installed the seal.

A picture of the new seal, looks like it's damaged due to that protrusion.

A picture of the old seal. Someone must of cut the seal in this area? It was obviously leaking though.

Something tells me that neither the oil seal you removed, nor the new one you installed is the genuine Toyota part.

Have you looked at the genuine Toyota seal at the dealership to see if it is factory notched in this area?

I can't recall off the top of my head.

the way that pink seal looks in your pic, it's going to leak, I'd say

You're right on the seal not being a genuine Toyota part. It's just that I have never encountered a oil pump that had a notch in the area were the seal is supposed to go. I definitely will check out the dealership on this part to see if there is a notch on the OEM part.
