1996 LS400 Losing oil
I noticed that over the course of a month my LS400 lost so much oil, that the low oil light came on for a bit in the dash. I had gotten the oil pump replaced for an oil leak pretty recently and there are no more leaks anymore so I don't know what could be causing it to lose oil. Is my car just getting old or is there a problem I'm missing?

A failed oil pump is very rare on these cars, I had a failed front crankshaft main seal, which made oil pour out the front near the harmonic balancer. Are you sure you have no other oil leaks?

As far as I can tell I can’t see any oil leaks or drops on my driveway so it’s nothing like before I got a seal on the oil pump replaced. I’ve also had the front crankshaft seal replaced along with the oil pump seal as well.

Did you verify oil level on the dipstick? The oil level sensor in these is notorious for going bad. Mine is lit most times but will also turn itself off and back on again, even though there is plenty oil in the motor.

I’m pretty sure the dipstick is right because I was able to empty a whole quart of oil into the engine, the dipstick was showing that properly too

No significant oil leaks?
If not, more than likely you are burning oil.
Im assuming you do a lot of highway driving.
What oil weight are you using?
Maybe try a heavier weight like 10w30 to lessen the burn. (you should be fine since you live in a warmer area)
I'd just keep checking it every 1000 miles unless you want to rebuild the motor.
