Unhappy Timing cover oil leak

A large oil leak has developed coming from the timing cover. I then replaced both cam seals and crank seal along with a new timing belt and water pump. But the oil leak is still there! Could the leak be coming from the oil pump housing? How common would that be the source of the leak ?

you sure you didn't damage cam/crankshaft when pulling old oil seals out?

I was careful when I pulled the old seals out. When everything was apart I saw oil all over and around the oil pump. I guess this is a rare occurrence.

Did you post about this on TN as well? I've got the same response:

Oil pump reseals with FIPG/black RTV, and you should reseal both oil pans while you're at it.

I paid a shop in Tempe AZ $400 in labor to do the cam/crank and TB/WP on my 97 using an Aisin kit, Toyota Crank seal and FelPro (japanese made) cam seals. I think the 97s are easier to do though since you don't have the VVTi system to worry about. But I really had to search for that price though, most places wanted 600-650 for labor.
