I know this was in a previous post, but if you removed the OCV valves you can use this step to check if they are working or not before deciding to replace them.
I suggest replacing them anyways, but if $$ is an issue this is a could way to double check and rule out one of the culprits.

I had a check engine light on my 2002 LS430 (194K miles) P1351 & P1354 so I replaced my bank 2 OCV (Part #15330-0F010) and it cleared my codes.
Here is the video replacing the bank 2 OCV sensor. It only took me 10 minutes from start to finish.

May I ask how common do these VVT systems have problems such as sludge buildup?
Can the possible common problems be related to long oil change intervals and use of perhaps not so well cleaning oils?

P1351 & P1354 Error Codes for 2001 LS430
I have a 2001 LS430 UL w/ 138k miles. Family and I are on vacation (670mi. from home) and 340mi. into the trip the CEL and VSC OFF lights came on (cruise stopped working). It was 10:30pm and no-one was open. Made decision to push on to destination. Next morning I went to Autozone to have codes read. P1351 & P1354. Called local Lexus Dealer (Lexus of Clearwater) to see about scheduling appointment. Told that it would be Thursday, 27MAR14 before I could get in. We're leaving on Wednesday headed home so I took a cab to purchase the part and replaced the Bank 2 (drivers side) OCV. Cleared Codes and fix lasted for just over 4 miles then both CEL and VSC OFF cames back on. Took vehicle back to Autozone and same P1351 & P1354 codes are back! Any suggestions? One thing of note is that the connector clip is broken (was when I opened the hood to check location of sensor) and connector moves side to side slightly so I zip tied it as tight as I could and wrapped it in electrical tape to help hold it into place.
