Default need help with cabin filter removal

hi i'm trying to replace my in cabin/a/c filter and i'm looking in the manual saying you have to remove the shelf in the glove compartment. i lifted the shelf up with ease but i can't remove the side of the shelf from the right "wall" of the glove compartment. can anyone guide me?

You gotta rip it REALLY hard. Be careful though... that shelf does come flying out because you have to use a lot of force. I scratched the felt part of the wall and I couldn't really get that scratch out... You could jam a towel on the left side of the shelf so that when it comes flying out, your hand will will be cushioned/stopped by that towel...

Default WARNING (Caution)

Make sure the HVAC is in recirculation mode prior to removing the actual cabin air filter. You will know if you are not, the filter will be slightly difficult to remove. If you don't set it in the recirculation mode and you removed the filter, you will destroy a switch and it will be expensive to fix.

I think the problem he was mentioning involves the actual opening of the filter door. It's the step after the shelf removal. Just make sure your AC is on recirculate (I think that's what it is). Otherwise, when you're trying to open the "trap door" to access the actual filter, you'll break that the stick controls the ac vents or something... The "trap door" should open with ease or no effort at all. If you need to require ANY force, then MAKE SURE that the AC is on recirculate so you don't break that stick.
