You could, what is it that you are trying to do?
The tire is wider but it also comes with an increase in aspect ratio so the sidewall will be a bit taller. It will go from 5.2" to 5.8". Depending on tire choice, it will feel softer in ride qualities. You will also be at that edge of with a 3.8% larger diameter.

I would suggest going with the 95+ wheels and run a 225/60-16.

going for a wider look. the car has the original chrome stock rims, i think 15X6.

so your saying if i go with the 225 65 15's the tire will be taller than the 205 65 15's i have on there now? then, if i can get the 225's on the 15inch rim i should go with the 225 60's or 55's?

don't want to buy new rims. i like the chrome stock rims

That 6" width is your limiting factor. Check specs for suggested rim width, a 225/55 will fit but nominal is probably a 6.5-7" wide rim. Your sidewall will bulge and have the "fat look" on a 15x6".

225 on 6" is pretty bulgy.
I would suggest run 205 or 215.

i just saw while searching the internet that the wheels are 15 X 6.5. don't know if that 1/2 inch would make a difference. any thoughts. thanks again.

Yes you can...before I switched to 18's, I had that size on my Lexus....but like someone posted, it depends on the rim size and most importantly, how you want the car to look...good luck...

were your rims the stock rims? 15 X 6.5. that's what i have on my car. so if your rims were that size then i guess i can put 225 65 15 on my rims. do you remember if the tires stuck out much? also what size are your 18's? thanks for the feedback.
