Can someone tell me what that part is. My mechanic marked it being needed to replace but he doesn't speak very good english and well.. you know how that goes.

It is your TRAC motor. It is for early model traction control. It essentially is part of the throttle body, and is basically a motor that operates the first flap to slow air down/restrict air flow into the engine, thus limiting power and giving you traction control.... kind of indirectly, but it's essentially how Toyota has done it for a long time until they started pulsing the brakes too.

Thanks 3uzfte. So would I have to purchase the entire throttle body ornjustbthat one part?

I've never heard of one failing, what are the symptoms? Any CEL codes?
