Default 92 LS: Disgusting rear end clunk, getting exceedingly annoyed

Hey CLers,

When I bought my car, I noticed that there was noticeable suspension clunk from the rear end and it's progressively (but slowly) getting worse. I searched on the forum and found thread saying that it was my strut rod bushings (rear) and they were accurate, because my bushings are pretty toast. The problem is that I really can't imagine how those bushings can move in such a way to create that clunk. I also checked out my rear UCA bushings and those are messed, If I move my wheels with the car on a lift (driver's side rear wheel) I can see the UCA playing on it's 2 mounting points. Theres also my suspension arm to axle carrier who's bushings seem to be shot, then again, I don't know exactly how shot bushings can make those types of noises (loud clunks audible from inside the cabin with windows open). Can you all offer some advice?

P.S.: I have searched and I haven't really gotten the answer I was looking for yet.

Under load it will sound lots different. Bushings help keep it tight. You didn't mention your shocks. Those will cause a thud. I would start there if they are old.

Put on the coilovers, don't hear the noise any more.

maybe you should specify if it clunks when you start, stop, hit a bump, turn, or something else?

It used to clunk but not anymore, now the front makes clinking noises when going over bumps but I'm convinced it's my front strut rod bushings, my UCAs hit like crazy too but that's a different story. The rear was the sway bar bushings. Found out when I did my coilovers
