I'm sick of looking at my ugly push button shifter, so I put 2 different brightly colored beanies over it. I decided I want to swap out the shift ****. So, is there a solution to putting an aftermarket shift **** on a non-gated automatic, you know the ones with a button. I wana get a bubble shifter but no-one makes one with a button. Is there a solution to this ishue?

 

i believe you need to get a **** that has a button up top, or a **** that can be pressed down then put into gear. for example:

i'm not sure if any of these fit the UCF10 shaft, but most of these are universal.

 

the levoc style shifters are also pretty popular.

 

i had a acura integra that was a automatic, and i was sick of the shifter with a huge button on the side but i couldnt find one that i liked so i locked up the mechanism for the button on the shifter so it made it obsolete, so that you would not need to press the button to shift in and outta park, so i put a 5sp shift *** on it that tighten on the bottom with a allen wrench. could this work in a 1gen?

 

is there a DIY link for this? i want to get an AM shifter.....maybe even one of those ***** looking ones....

you would probably want a '95-97 gated shifter assembly for your 1st gen.

 

thats a pretty good link for a DIY, seams simple enough, BUT why do certain shifters specify certain cars...
---OCR, when you/if you do this mod, let me know how it goes, i think you and i both want the same thing here...

 

because the 98-00 gated shifter is for a 5spd trans not your 4spd...
