Default EGR Pipe

Has anyone ever changed the EGR-Pipe in the first genereation LS 400? Mine is broken at the flexible part, that causes a louder running engine. The dealers manual says 6.8 hours to change it!!!
Any experience with it?

Thanks Chris

I had mine changed about a month ago. You're lucky if it only takes 6.8 hrs, I did not have my car for 2 long days. I had the same nasty sound you're probably getting right now, it's a little pipe but it's hell to get it out. The EGR pipe is located behind the engine connected from the back to the exhaust pipe. You difinitely have to get to it from underneath...good luck...

Had the EGR Pipe replaced at Lex dealer, took them 4 plus hrs,
boy that crackling sound was horrible sounds like a busted muffler
I also would like to know about that 20-30 minutes statement.

Exclamation EGR pipe Procedure!

Sooner pm'd me with these instructions:

You drop the exhaust from the cats and remove the r/h cat there are 2 12 mm nuts holding the lower part of the pipe on and then there are 2 12 mm bolts that go through the pipe to the lower coolant bypass then itll come out and the install the gasket on the top and one on the bottom lining up the top bolts will be tricky make sure they are in straight and then reinstall.
