Distributor Cap and Rotor Button Replacement
Anyone ever done a Distributor Cap and rotor button replacement on a '93 LS400?
If so, where is it and how difficult to do? Any guidance would be great. Especially pictures...My dealer is recommending the replacement due to acceleration issues and I would like to do it myself if possible. Cannot find it and need help.
Thanks

Hmm..how many miles are on it?
I know when I changed mine on my 90LS with 130K miles the caps and rotors were in need of replacement, but they could last another 50K miles..
I'm, not suggesting you don't get them changed (I would) , but look to some other things to help with the performance. Check spark plug wires (get toyota only!) and new plugs. Torquemaster and the Denso OEM plugs are the 2 popular choices.
Also pick up a new OEM air filter (helps alot) and get a differential, tranny(type-IV ONLY!) , and oil fluid change. Another fix to look for is the throttle body cleaning. Also get a fuel filter replacement (have dealer do it) the dealer should only charge you a half hour of labor for this (around $40.)
Sorry I'm off track, -- but the rotor and cap replacement is quite difficult. It took two people and 5-6 hours to finish mine. If I had the cash I'd think about having someone else do it if it came up again. Sorry I don't have any step by step or how to's...the thing that sucks is that if you have someone else do it, you have to pay quite a bit. $$$$
You can get the parts for all of this through Steve @ Carson Toyota)

Distributor replacement
Thanks Lvangundy!
I have 140k on it and I was afraid of that...
I did have my spark plug wires and plugs done by another shop when they were looking at it for the acceleration issues. But, it was not a good shop and have pulled my car, and sent it back to the dealership. I will have the dealership review the other parts for replacement and such. I will have them do the distributor and rotor based on your input.
Thanks again thought maybe I would forgo the high repair cost if it was easy enough. I have done quite a few caps and rotors but nothing on this type of vehicle.
