Default Passenger side view mirror question

The passenger side view mirror on my '91 ls400 has a lot of play in it and will not stay in one position. It just swivels back and forth. What causes this and how can I fix it? any help is appreciated.

it's broken inside, someone or something either hit it or tried to force it to move. the internals of the mirror need to be replaced.

It's not worth repairing just find a used one either locally or ebay.com plenty of choice so you should find the correct color.

Thanks for the info guys. I had my car detailed and washed a few days ago, I guess they use a drive through car wash and who ever was driving it tried to push the mirrors in. Last time I go there that's for sure.

The mirror glass snaps into place. It may possible to snap it back in place if the tabs are not broken. The Lexus repair manual for my 99 LS shows show to remove the mirror glass with a small shop towel but I've never done it. And I am not certain that the removal procedure is the same for a 91 - but it probably is.
