Default Quick seafoam question...

Hey guys got a quick question.....if I suck seafoam into the brakebooster line (vacuum line) is is at all necessary to change the oil afterwards? Is there any chance of this stuff getting into my oil supply and causing trouble? (I just had my oil changed that's why I am asking....)

Thanks again
Turbo

well, a small amount wont really hurt your oil due to blow by I suppose. But you really should have done the seafoam AFTER the oil change. I would wait until the next time around personally.

Is it anything to worry about getting the oil changed again since I have 5k miles to go till the next one?

if you do the seafoam via brake booster (not in the crankcase) and don't change your oil for 5k, your car will be okay. I would not loose sleep over it, but I would just wait. I can tell your itching to seafoam your car, even if your order of operations is backwards. Is there anything particularly wrong with the way your motor is running? I have 60k on my LS and have not done it to her, but the car runs like a freight train, so I figure I would leave well enough alone. On my maxima, I can't really remember if it was a worthwhile endevor, but some guys swear by it.

I just got finished seafoaming it...man it smoked like crazy! Question.....the first 1/3 I did via one of the two rubber hoses that connects to my master cylinder....started it and revved it and nothing.....the second go around I tried it on a little vacuum line after the throttle body but before the intake.....it smoked like crazy....was the first try using one of the two rubber vaccum hoses that connected to the master cylinder not the right place to run seafoam through? Why didn't it smoke one bit the first try?

if you havent ever done it before you may want to change your sparkplugs out after as they can get fouled from loose carbon. plus gives you an opportunity to seafoam teh cylinders (google)

Sorry, that I cannot answer. :-( Not to try to worry you, but if there were 2 hoses, why wouldn't you verify which hose was the proper one with CL before you started to slurp that stuff up? I would verify with those here the hose that you initially used that did not smoke, was not a hose unrelated, just incase you have a safety issue with seafoam in the wrong area. That's just me... On another note, how does your car run? Any difference?

Well I figured since it WAS a vacuum hose it would be ok.....ran fine after starting it up(it smoked just a teeny bit).....when I ran it before the intake it idled rough till the seafoam was out of its system...then its fine...

There was two lines that connected to the black drum behind the master cylinder....I sucked up seafoam through the upper hose going to the engine from the black drum....

It's probably fine- but maybe you should post a pic of the first hose you used.

Also, it would be helpful if somebody posted a pic of the right hose to use. Kind of curious myself.

I have already read the seafoam thread entirely....

I did another round of seafoam today......heres the funny thing....

I did both of these applications through an inlet right before the intake (the same place I did the second go round yesterday on)....

Funny thing happened.....did one application....waited 20 mins......barely any smoke for 5 mins....shut off did the second application and waited 25 mins this time.....it smoked like a steam engine going down the road!

Any ideas?
