Brake Light Replacement - Help
I have a 95 LS400 with a right rear brake light out. The light is one of the small lights on the "body" of the car. It is not one of the lights on the "trunk lid". I took a look today and found no obvious way to reach the bulb and replace. Has anyone made this change and would anyone have an idea how to access? My owners manual shows what the light is, but says "if light goes out, see a Lexus dealer immediately". So much for the help from the manual! Would like to replace myself...help. Thanks.

The screws are located inside the trunk.
Carefully peel back the "trunk lining".
Look for the "NUTS" holding the screws from the
light assembly housing. Remove them and I think
you can pivot the assembly out towards the front.
What ever you do , don't pry anywhere ,
I think there are 2 clips that is part of the
housing. It's been a while , I replaced it them years ago.

Thanks mlvek, I noticed "caps" along the edge of the trunk rim that may hide screws. I'll play "lightly" today and see if I can get to the bulb. I did notice that the trunk liner appeared to be pretty snug against the trunk interior. Will the liner pull back pretty easily? Also, do I need to purchase new bulb from lexus or would I find that the proper replacement can be found a typical auto parts store? Thanks

Yes I am in the process of changing my burnt out bulb in the same area. Yes you can get the bulbs at any auto parts store. I would recommed changing all the bulbs in the light to save trouble down the road. Good Luck !!
**I want to go to LED bulbs soon, but have to waite, a little bit of work to convert over **

Thanks guys for all your help. I decided to wait until I could read more posts before starting. I'll give it a try tonight and write back if I hit any snags. The visual photo was great!

FVELLANI, Just interested, where is Richmond, B.C.? I used to spend summers on Loon Lake, B.C. (Cache Creek) with my grandparents many moons ago. Now I take my own kids there from time to time. Love those Kamloops trout!
