Smile LS400 Steering Wheel

Wondering what to do next? I re-adjusted the gear in the steering colum and wheel started to move up and down (which it was not, it was making a grinding sound). It moved up and down a few times and then stopped moving totally.
The wheel does not move in and out either after the adjustment, no grinding sounds, nothing)
Does anyone know if this means the motor is gone or is there a fuse that might need to be replaced, to restore power to the wheel?

Thanks for your input.

Exclamation LS400 Steering Wheel

Hello,

My Lexus is a 1990. The problem started with the grinding noise when trying to move wheel up and down. The In and out worked mostly; but has been sporadic. I readjusted the gear so that it was catching and the up and down worked a few times and then there was no movement; luckily the wheel stopped in the down position!!

Yesterday when I started the car the wheel moved in and then out...then nothing again, still in the down postion. I noticed getting in with the wheel down could be a tight fit for other drivers.

Just trying to figure out what the problem may be and if there is a simple inexpensive fix?

Thanks
