steering wheel clunking when startup

steering wheel clunking when startup

i have the power tilt telescope wheel on my car and every 2nd or 3rd time i start the car the wheel makes a big clunk. is this normal?

My best guess would be it's the steering wheel lock. When you start your car, if there was enough tension on the wheel as it locked, it will clunk when it is released by the ignition...

what's normal is for it to move into position. clunking is not normal.

I have heard mine make a noise when it releases... its not loud, but I would describe it as a clunk. Maybe a thunk.

Edit: Mine isn't power though...
