timing belt and Water pump
I jus bought my car about almost a month ago...and it has 109,300 miles on it.
How do you know if the timing belt and waterpump has been replaced at the 100k mark?

If you have a copy of the old title, you could google/yellow pages the previous owner and ask him. I did that and the guy was only too pleased to talk to me about his 'old' LS400!

How old is the car? The reason I ask is if its 4-5 yrs old the belt was probably done. The problem however lies in if the pump was also done. So many people omit that. A dealer can check for you if it was done at one of the dealers. The only way to know for sure is tear it down and look.

I would tear it down and look...but before I work on it myself I'm tryna learn more about it first.

If there isn't any evidence of it being done, it probably wasn't. That being said, if you were to get one done at our import shop, most of our customers don't want the sticker, and instead we just record it in our records, however there wouldn't be any record of it anywhere else, except for the receipts. It is really easy to pull one of the timing inspection covers to identify the condition of the belt.

As 3UZFTE said, you can take off one of the T-belt covers. See if the belt looks old or decrepit (sp) or if there's any cracks in the belt. (You'll be able to see if it is) With that many miles, which is way past the recommended mileage, you should take a look ASAP. If it was me, I would take it halfway apart to the point where you can see the idler pulleys. If there is rust on those, or alot of grease, then they haven't been changed and it should be done very soon before something bad happens. You can see the difference between old and new idlers, and other stuff, here; https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls4...-progress.html
