Default How do i know my Traction Control Works?

Just like the title says. My 1991 LS has Traction Control but even with the System Active i get a lot of wheel spin (Its not a bad thing) but the System is supposed to help keep traction..

My Question is: How do i know its working?? I dont have a CEL or TRAC Light on the dash.

Im just a bit confused on how the system is supposed to work...

Get to some wet ground with ample space around brake torque and let her rip. The trac system should keep the slipping to a minimum.

I have been able to Brake Torque and she just continues to spin the wheels. i have also been able to Power Brake her for a while without the Traction Control kicking in.. its the same with the Trac Off switch Engaged and Disengaged.

If you have traction control you will have a yellow "TRAC" indicator on the dash which will flash when the traction control is being activated accompanied with a thumping sound from the rear brakes as they are applied by the system and released.
Pressing the TRAC button to turn it off will also illuminate the TRAC OFF light also on the dash.
I wasn't aware the MK1 LS400 had traction control fitted outside of Japan.

It's possible that your LS isn't equipped with TRAC control. The ashtray assembly that houses the trac button in your car may not be original. Check the engine to verify there is a plastic cover on the throttle body with TRAC on it. Also check the throttle body for 2 TPS.

As above, you should have the TRC cover and 2 throttle pots as shown on my engine below.

On a wet road, if I turn off the TC I can spin the wheels by stepping on the gas - it is dangerous because the back end will rip out sideways so only do this in an open area. On a dry road it would take a lot more pushing to get it to spin like this. The point is its easy on a wet road to tell. From the sound of it, yours is *****d.
