Sunroof left tilted up, now ignition wont turn over
Hi
I looked all over this site to solve this problem but can't come up with a solution,
I have a lexus ls 400 and my dad left the sunroof tilted up this morning, now when i hook up my positive battery terminal (i got a hot short), the dome light where my tilt switch for the sunroof starts to make a beeping noise.
The sunroof wont tilt back into position and my ignition wont turn over with the key, it stays in the lock section.
ive tried to take out the dome fuse and start the car but then my car wont get no power but when i put it back it in the beeping noise starts for 5 beeps then stops.
can anybody help me, i would greatly appreciate it!
Thank you.

no its not the battery, i have a short though everytime i leave the car i unhook my positive cable so the battery wont die. but everytime i hook up the positive now, the beeping comes from the domelights and it wont tilt back, and the ignition wont turn. i can try that though, i get with you in sec.
thanks for the input though.

Sounds like the factory alarm was tripped. With that on, nothing will work( car will not start, windows will not roll up, sunroof will not move period). You may have a dead actuator in the door which enabled the car to not be disarmed from security mode. I know that mine is sometimey on my drivers side, but I have an older LS than you, so with mine tripped the only thing that will happen is the dash with light up, but nothing else. To disarm, you have to turn the key in the door to unlock and disarm the alarm. Once you disabled the factory alarm, everything was all good again. The beeping sound you heard was the "idiot reminder" that the sunroof was in the up position; of course you already knew that it was; just couldn't get the darn thing back down,,LOL!! Also, you mentioned that you have a short in the system somewhere. Would track down and repair that short somewhere.

If I understand this right, the key doesn't turn at all? The beeping is the reminder but it only beeps when the key is turned off and pulled out so it will instantly beep when hooking up the battery. It sounds like the key wouldnt turn b/c maybe the steering wheel was turned to far when it locked. So if ya pulled on the steering wheel it should be all set. I wouldn't worry about that, just find and fix the draw you have on the battery.
