Like i said, the volume will be too low from that kicker speaker. You have to find a way to increase ohms, as you know there is no way to control oem amp without messing up ur mid and high speakers. You may want to buy a small amp to push it.

 

not true at all! you must DEcrease ohms to fit the oem amp. pioneer speaker = 2 ohms. pioneer amp = 2 ohms. double voicecoil speaker with 4+4 ohms wired parallel = 2 ohms = correct.

there is no way to compensate this by a resistor. of course you can but then you loose dB and the result is the same.

if you want to buy a good speaker from a 1947 founded italian professional audio manufacturer you could buy this one http://cgi.ebay.it/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...m=370455535115 its cheap and its a honest speaker with all thiele-small parameters. i am sure they have a US distribution. note the pdf in this auction for data.

 

also you can't just "drop" a sub in... it needs to be mounted and sealed which isn't that easy... building a small MDF box for the trunk is MUCH easier... When I bought mine some guy had dropped a 4 ohm Boston acoustics sub into the hole and didn't even mount it to the deck let alone seal the mounting... what a joke. I run a 12" Image dynamics IDQ v2 now... it only takes 175w to make it romp...

Use speaker-level inputs by taping the speaker wires under the passenger site were the OEM amp is or remove the clips from the sub wires and hook them to the speaker-level inputs(you may need to extend the cable depend on the location of the amp.

i have both a nakamichi sub from a 90-94 LS its 5 ohm and a nakamichi sub from a 96 LS its 6 ohm, both are 8". for sale PM for info.

 

P.hase I have a 125w+4 4ohms amp I plan on using 4 my mid and high is this coo or can I run a bigger. 250w+4 4ohms..will this be better and make it sound more crip and clear....I do plan on keeping my sub but going wit JL audio w7.....any help would be great thanks

 

how can a car battery deliver 1600w? tell me! what you could do to play crisper and louder is cutting all midbass-speakers at 125hz by adding a single/simple/cheap electrolytic capacitor with a small high end bypass foil capacitor and thus generating a -6dB HP crossover. then install a good independent subwoofer to deliver ALL bass work up to 80hz from the back. you could always try to install a 10" woofer from the trunk side to a sealed wooden ring which is attached inside the trunk and sealed with silicone. it would blow through the 8" opening. this one would be great: http://www.igtek.it/subwoofer-ciare-...00w-p-491.html

Great post. I have the Nakamichi system in mine. If I wanted to upgrade to an aftermarket 8" sub I would just have to get a amp to go with it? Could I use any wattage amp or does it have to be specific wattage/ohm?

 

You would buy an amp to suit the specs of the sub you choose. Keep in mind when running a sub IB it is a lot more efficient compared to running it in a dedicated enclosure so less power is required.

Im considering running this in my LS as I want to keep trunk space. Ive already lost one corner to the tank and compressor for my air suspension. Plus im having a kid soon so ill really need the space. The specs of this driver will work well in an IB configuration.

I just replaced my stock sub in my '97 with this: Kicker 8" COMP
Put an appropriate amp on it and sounds great. Plenty of boom.

I Didn't think i could get that sound with a Stock Amp!!
