Talking Well I just bought a 1998 LS400

Hey All

I am back in action. I could not be happier. As some of you know I wrecked my 91 LS400 about three weeks ago. I have been shopping for a newer one ever since.

Well today I bought a 98 Pearl White with Tan leather. It is Immaculate. It was owned since new by the 60 year old wife of a retired CEO. The car was kept in their SIX car garage and babied for all of it 24,400 miles. Yes I found a 98 with only 24k on it. It looks and smell like new. The car is so clean inside and out that even I am impressed.

It has Sunroof and CD but no wood steering wheel or shifter, no big deal. I wanted the extra wood but hey I can always buy those two things on Ebay.

Anyways here is the really great news I only paid $28,500 for it. Most dealer wanted somewhere in the $30,000 for a white LS with les than 30k miles. I got the deal of the century.

Well have a good night all, I know I am!!!

Jerry

PS anybody want to but a wrecked 91???

Congrats on your purchase! That's a nice improvement over your previous '91. I like my '91, but the '98 must be tons better.

Default Congrats, Jerry

That was a steal ! a '98 with 24K miles and for under $30K ? Why was the lady selling ? The true gem is that this car has been 'babied' by the owner which means you effectively has a brand spanking new car, for a whole lot less $$$.....

You are a lucky man ! Makes me jealous I paid ca. 31K for my '99 with a lot HIGHER miles Enjoy your new ride, well worth it IMO.

Thumbs up CONGRATS!

I've followed your search, and you got a great deal! Looks like I got ripped off on mine (perhaps I was too eager), we paid $8500 more for a 99 with 22k on it (from dealer)!

You've taught me a lesson on patience and perseverance!

Hey no one gets ripped of on these cars. You may pay a little more but we both have great cars that should last for ever.

Trust me it was EXTREMELY hard being patient. I almost bought several cars because I thought This deal is the best one I would find. Every time just something would not be perfect on the car or the mileage would be to high or the price was to much. I was patient and found this car. Know mind you I wreck my car only 3 weeks ago and I looked at over 30 cars in that time. I was a shopping NUT. I was online three time a day checking every system for cars.

The ad for this car was a tiny piece of poop on Cars.com. The whole add read:
1998 LS400 25kmiles $28,500 and phone with NO area code. I didn't call on it for three days figuring it was some dog ugly color that no one would want or honestly a typo.

Anyways the lady sold the car because they have 6 grand kids and she no longer used the car. She now rarely drives and when she does she drives a 2001 Toyota minivan and has a 2003 on order.

This was her 5 Lexus and has babied the car. I told her thank you for taking car of my new car so well.

Know lets just hope I don't wreck this one any time soon or ever!

Horta,

Congratulations on your new investment. (Investment in happiness). I wanted to reply because I am looking for the same car.....if it exists. I will definately follow your posts to read your comments, and comparisons to the 91.

Keep it under 100 mph! (Just kidding).

Hey If you send me an EMail at either:

hortaja@bellsouth.net

or

jerry.horta@motorola.com

I will email you an Excel spreadsheet I put together showing the dealer/wholesale prices for all 99 and 99 LS400 sold in the last two months. This even shows all colors.

Default Congrats!

Congrats on your new ride Jerry. Sounds like you got a helluva deal, even below wholesale! I'd also be interested in having a peek at your spreadsheet, my email is sean.lewis@juno.com.
