Question Engine Missing

Hi All,
1993 LS400 with 220,000 miles. Changed the timing belt and water pump. New plugs, wires, and coils. Car starts and runs fine at idle. Runs rough, misses and smokes at 2000 rpm. Runs perfectly at 3000 rpm. If the timing were off wouldn't it run rough through all the rpm stages? Any suggestion would be appreciated. Thanks. Doug

I hope you find your missing engine! It must be horrible to have lost it!

ha, just kidding!

Does this happen in gear or are you in neutral/park? Have you turned off as many electrical assisted functions as possible (like TRAC)?
