Anti freeze smell
I'm just wondering if this would be the heater core? I got the antifreeze smell inside when the heat temp is turned up to about 75 or higher even though the heat doesn't work. It hasn't since I bought it. (7 months ago) If the heat is off and it is set to fresh air I can smell it until I switch over to recirculated air, so it is just when it is blowing. This just started a few weeks ago. I thought the heater core was good b/c both the in and out hoses under the hood would get hot, even though I had no heat. If it is the heater core, how hard is it to change, how much of the interior has to come out?

Could be the heater core. Most cars, the dash needs to come out to swap the heater core. Definitely not a fun job. You'll also need to evacuate the a/c system as the expansion valve is mounted on the heater core, typically. You could have a slow leak causing you to smell it. Pressure test your cooling system and see if you it's holding pressure ok.

I didn't think the whole dash had to come out, just the under side. I do have to pull the radio also, and the cabin filter so I might as well do all at once. The A/C works but it's not ice cold and it takes a long time to get cold.
